How does flight nanny puppy delivery work?

Short answer

A flight nanny is a person who buys a seat on a commercial flight, carries your puppy in an airline-approved carrier under the seat in front, and hands the puppy to you at your nearest major airport. The puppy stays with a person the whole way, unlike air cargo. It is the safest way to fly a puppy long distances.

What happens on delivery day

  1. Before travel the puppy has a vet check; many airlines ask for a health certificate issued within 10 days of the flight.
  2. The nanny checks in with the puppy as an in-cabin pet, in a soft carrier that fits under the seat.
  3. You get the flight details and updates during the journey.
  4. You meet the nanny at arrivals and the puppy is handed over with its records.

How we deliver: within about 600 miles of Waxhaw, NC a staff member drives your puppy to your door. Further away, a flight nanny brings them in the cabin. We never ship puppies as cargo.

Common questions

How old does a puppy have to be to fly?
At least 8 weeks and fully weaned under US federal rules; some airlines set a higher minimum age.
Is flying stressful for a puppy?
Less than you might expect when a person is with them. Most puppies sleep through the flight in their carrier; cargo, where they are alone in the hold, is far more stressful.
Is a flight nanny legit or a scam?
Flight nannies are a real and common service, but scammers also invent 'pet transport' companies that demand extra fees. Only deal with transport arranged and confirmed by the breeder you have verified.
